Mount Gambier/Port MacDonnell, Mt Schank Picnic Area (Free Camp) Options

This picnic area is at the foot of Mt Schank which is about 12.5 kms south of Mt Gambier or 15 kms north of Port MacDonnell. Mt Schank is a volcanic cinder cone. The start of the walking trail to the viewing area and the rim walk is nearby.

If you are in the area a visit to the Tantanoola Caves is worthwhile- GPS: 37 42 57 S 140 30 05 E

Power: No

Amenities: Male & female amenites block with flushing toilets. Disabled access. Sensor light to activate lights at night for inside. No showers.

Other facilities include and under cover BBQ area with a coin operated BBQ plate, a picnic table and an open fire place (no wood). Rubbish wheelie bins are also provided.

Mobile Phone Reception: Yes (with external aerial)

Area: The area is a bit uneven. Would suit small to medium size rigs. Our rating - 3.
